Our Story
A Town with Deep Roots
Bristow was established in 1898 and named after Joseph Bristow, a U.S. postal inspector. The town grew rapidly during the early 20th century oil boom, becoming a thriving commercial center for Creek County.
The famous Route 66 -- the Main Street of America -- runs right through Bristow, and the town's historic depot and downtown district still reflect the character of that golden era.
Bristow is also home to the Creek Nation, and the area's rich Native American heritage is woven into the fabric of the community's identity and culture.
Today, Bristow balances its proud history with a forward-looking spirit -- a place where generations-old families and newcomers alike find a place to belong.
