About Us

The story behind BristowBuzz - and the person behind it.

The proverbial "us" is actually a "me" currently. Let me introduce myself, Phil Johnson, and then BristowBuzz.

About the publisher:

My wife and I own and run a small farm in Castle, Oklahoma, some 16 miles south of town, where we raise Nubian Dairy goats - Castlekeep Nubians is our herd name. We have been Oklahoma residents since 1998, relocating to be near my wife's parents. Our younger daughter graduated from Bristow High School, and was a "flyer" on the Bristow Cheerleading team. I served for many years with the Bristow Chamber of Commerce, ultimately serving as President of the Chamber. And while we don't live "in" Bristow, Bristow is our town - where we go to shop, eat, enjoy the park, and visit with friends.

My background, over several decades, is the directory (yellow pages) business. In 2007 I stepped out on my own, publishing directories in Skiatook/Sperry, Stroud, Okmulgee County, and here in Bristow I published Showcase Bristow, from 2008-2013. My last print directory was 2013 as online was more effectively replacing the print product - you go where the eyeballs (consumer habits) take you.

About Bristow.Buzz

In 2014, I introduced BristowBuzz.com, an online directory, after more than a year in development. Over the years, that structure, built with 'earlier' tools, suffered from its own framework as web development evolved, and maintenance of the site became more difficult. So, I elected to start over, from the foundation up, to give Bristow residents, newcomers, and visitors alike a community focused website that delivers - easy search, easy navigation, complete and accurate directory - plus Local News, a robust Community Calendar, and an old style made new A-Z "white pages" alphabetic directory of all local businesses, groups, and city and county government agencies and departments. There is even a special Newcomers section on the site. And for our local businesspeople and professionals, some great advertising and promotional options at a ridiculously low price point.

I hope you enjoy the new site, and find it your go-to source for everything around town. I'd love to hear your feedback.

Welcome to Bristow.Buzz - glad you're here!
